Abstract

The average cost of drug development is US$2.8 billion and involves nearly a decade or more. Hence it necessities a bearable revolution to augment the speed exactitude. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is considered the foremost fourth industrial revolution. AI helps in many areas of our day-to-day life, whether we are trying to read our emails, get driving directions and so on. Also, AI can boost the drug discovery and development process with significant involvement in different steps of drug discovery and development. AI can guide the drug discovery process, including target identification, hit identification, ADMET prediction, and drug repositioning. It can also be instrumental in pharmaceutical product development, manufacturing and managing clinical trials cutting out the cost of drug development. If AI experts and scientists from the biology field works collaboratively, drug discovery and development will undoubtedly leap forward in the future without replacing the need of human resource.
