Chronic Bacterial Prostatitis (CBP) remains a significant challenge due to its recurrent nature and the limited efficacy of antibiotic monotherapy. This study evaluates the therapeutic efficacy of enrofloxacin and catechin, both alone and in combination, in an experimentally induced CBP rat model. A total of six groups of male Wistar rats were established, including a negative control, a CBP-induced positive control, and treatment groups receiving enrofloxacin, catechin, or their combination at different dosages. The study examined hematological and biochemical parameters as key indicators of systemic and organ-specific effects of the treatments . The study concludes that combination therapy with enrofloxacin and catechin offers superior therapeutic benefits compared to monotherapy, effectively reducing inflammation, restoring hematological and biochemical parameters, and enhancing bacterial clearance. This suggests that catechin can potentiate enrofloxacin's efficacy, offering a promising adjunctive approach to managing CBP while potentially mitigating antibiotic resistance concerns.
