Ever increasing concentration of larger proportions of urban poor and squatters have been an alarming concern in metropolitan cities of India, Punjab is not an exception. Purpose of present paper is to delineate the multiple vulnerabilities of the populations living on squatter sites illegally termed as nonnotified slums in Amritsar amidst abject poverty and dearth of basic services. The squatters were rehabilitated ‘ex-situ’ from ‘non-notified’ slums to Basic Services for urban poor affordable shelter project sites in Amritsar. This research attempts to achieve two objectives. One, to answer to the research question, how does poverty get concentrated in various spatial areas of the city through literature review? Two, to carry out multiple vulnerability analysis of the urban poor squatters rehabilitated in BSUP affordable shelter project sites in Amritsar. To answer to the research questions structured interviews of the urban poor was conducted to draw inferences coupled with socio-economic surveys.
