Fishing Based Primary Occupation in Sundarbans

Abstract

Fisheries is a very promising sector playing an important role for the development of economic ambiance in the country. The sector has exhibited strong growth of about 8% per year on the average with aquaculture growing at an annual average of more than 10%. The sector has been showing a steady growth in the total Gross Value-Added accounts for about 7.28% share of agriculture GDP. Here in this paper we come to understand how this sector has become a major earning source for the country aswellas thepeoplelivingthere.Althougha verybeneficialuseofresource, overuseoffishresource have caused other issues in the environment. We should keep in mind to use them in a sustainable manner for our future generations.
