Abstract

Mobile LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) is a powerful mapping tool that uses laser scanning to quickly, precisely, and cost-effectively locate roadway assets and related infrastructure. Mobile LiDAR Data Processing is a sophisticated mapping approach that uses advanced LiDAR sensors and cameras to quickly and accurately include survey grade 3D point cloud data. The technique of collecting geospatial data from any mobile vehicle equipped with a LiDAR remote sensing device is known as mobile LiDAR data mapping. The setup enables for the quick gathering of all visible assets from a moving vehicle that is travelling at the posted (desired) speed. Following the processing of mobile LiDAR data, multiple techniques are used to extract additional features from the 3d point cloud data. This paper examines the present scenario of commercially available mobile LiDAR systems and their future scope.
