FDI inflow in service sector of India: An intercomperative study

Abstract

The main objective of the paper is to find out Impact of total foreign direct investment inflow on gross domestic product of India, Impact of FDI inflow in service sector on bank rate and foreign exchange reserve of India and difference between FDI inflow in service sector and telecommunication sector during the most recent 15 years i.e. 2003–04 to 2017–18. Multiple regression analysis is applied to find out the determinants which have the significant impact on service sector foreign direct investment during study period. The study also compares the inflows of foreign direct investment in the service sector with telecommunication sector in India. Findings of the study disclose that among specific determinants, foreign exchange reserve and gross domestic products are the significant factors and insignificant with bank rate which are useful in prediction of FDI in the service sector.
