The study examines the information needs of fisherman and comprehends the patterns of their Behaviour. This research was carried out as a pilot study on fishermen in the coastal area of Dadanpatrabar, Purba Midnapore District, West Bengal, India, which is located in the eastern section of the country. A total of 100 fishermen received the questionnaire out of which, 85 filled-in questionnaires were returned with all of the needed information. The data for this study was obtained through a questionnaire-based survey on information-seeking Behaviour. The results are based on questions that were posed to the local fishermen. The primary goal of this study is to determine the current state of fishermen’s informationseeking Behaviour and the overall situation of fishermen. The study found that the fishermen use information technology and mobile technology to perform their jobs. Moreover, the study investigated of the role of the Internet in retrieving such information. Efforts were also made to learn about the fishing facilities available and the difficulties encountered in this area. Furthermore, the study revealed more about their schooling and the government services that they have access.
