Collection Development Policies and Management for Books in Management Libraries

Abstract

Firstly, management library has required budget for collection development. To do any work fund is the most important requirement. It is impossible to do collection development without fund/budget. After arrangement of budget librarian makes plan for collection development librarian informs to faculty members and researchers about books in his plan. Librarian gets books recommended to faculty members and researchers by physically, catalogue, contents of books sent by e-mail and other methods. Then faculty members and researchers recommend books for library collection development. Librarian gets books recommended by faculty members and other users according to budget. Librarian is prepared a list of recommended books for approval. Librarian gets recommended list of books approved by library committee, purchase committee, Dean Academics and Director. Librarian gets purchase order made by administration department after approval of list of books recommended by faculty members. Librarian gets purchase order received by supplier. Supplier supplies books to management library. Accessioning is in accession register and data entry in automation software after receiving the books. Thus, collection development has done in management library. This paper describes in detail about collection development policies in management library.
