Abstract

Information and communication technology has brought a lot of changes in the education system. The new concept of E-learning allows learners to acquire knowledge using computers and the internet. These educational changes led to innovative changes in library services. The librarian has to move towards a more responsible role from information disseminator to educator. The library acts as a place with authenticated resources when compared to internet resources, because a librarian with his/her information retrieval skills will be able to search and acquire authenticated resources. Apart from teachers and learners in E-education, library/librarian play a very important role in maintaining high academic standards in E-Learning programs. To cater the E-learners one major shift in library service is having a Digital library. It must be emphasized that a library with its resources and services has been giving a unique experience to the E-Learning community and has a significant impact on teaching and learning.
