Infectious Diseases has assumed a prominent place in the history of mankind as it has affected the basic fabric of human existence affecting social, economic, political sustainability and existence. This study analyses the scholarly publications on infectious disease for a period of twenty years (2000–2019) based on the Web of Science database. The parameters studied included characteristics of publications, productivity and collaboration of authors, productive organisations, and collaboration of countries, productive funding agencies, productive journals and co-occurrence of keywords. Dataset for this study was analysed using Bibexcel and VOS viewer software. The study finds that more than half of the number of publications (83789; 53.88% globally and 2530; 52.31% in India) were published during 2014 - 2019 where year 2019 has the highest number of publications. Annual Growth Rate (AGR), Cumulative Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) and Doubling time [D(t)] calculations revealed that there is a non-uniform and declining growth pattern of research output during the study period from year 2000 to year 2019.
