An Overview on Supply Chain Coordination (SCC) Schemes Focusing on Classification and Influencing Factors

Overall performance improvement of supply chain may be possible only when each member of a supply chain behaves as a part of the unified system and the members coordinate each other. A systematic literature survey on supply chain coordination (SCC) schemes is presented in this paper to throw some light on classification of different SCC schemes. Further, this study explores relevant issues that influence its selection process. These are classified hierarchically. Four dimensions identified in the first level are: supply chain environment, requirements for implementation, risks involved and benefits expected from the coordination schemes. Supply chain environment is further classified into four components: strength, weakness, opportunity and threat. Benefits are also divided into efficiency oriented and effectiveness oriented benefits. In the subsequent level, total 48 factors (explored through detailed literature study) are identified as the factors associated with the eight dimensions or components of the dimensions. This article may help the decision maker to deeply understand the SCCS and relevant factors influencing the decision of their selection.
