Abstract

Translating a company from good to great simply means to become more customer-centric and efficient. Both these rudiments are quintessential to make a business more profitable in today's era. Businesses compete to become more customer-responsive by trimming time-to-market, while lowering inventory costs and obsolescence.

Globalisation of economies has intensified competition and heightened macro and micro economic uncertainty. Businesses will have to evolve with emergent strategies to adapt to the ever changing business dynamics. Inflexible organisations will have to fight for sustainability, just as any species in the biological world.

It is not the strongest of the species that survives nor, the most intelligent that survives. It is the one that is the most adaptable to change.” – Charles Darwin (Founder of theory of Evolution).

Customer needs and competition change with time. Many Supply chain models lack the requisite flexibility and agility to accommodate this change. A demand driven supply network is high on flexibility and agility quotient. However, the concept of demand driven supply network is nascent and many companies are unaware of the process of creating one. This paper exposes a structured approach that companies could follow inorder to design a demand driven supply chain.
