Understanding Behavior Patterns Among Young Professionals: Using TA to Determine Ego States

We all understand the importance of communication in our personal and professional life and cannot ignore the fact that our interpersonal relationship is hugely dependent upon our communication. With the changing environment, youngsters are becoming more intolerant and impatient, thus spoiling their interpersonal relationship. A lot of people face peer pressure, instability and inconsistency in professional set up. Thus, this study is tries to understand the role and importance of ego state. The objective of study was to examine whether age and gender affects ego states in transactional analysis (TA). The hypothesis was that there is a relationship between age, gender and ego states of young professional in TA. A sample of 150 young professional was taken; data was collected through questionnaire and further tested. ANOVA was applied to establish relationship between dependent and independent variables. The relationship between gender and ego state seems to be positive. Ego state basically defines the communication pattern of individual, which, inturn, shows the behavioral temperament.
