This study explores employee perception on various Organisational Climate (OC) dimensions within private sector but in different manufacturing set up. The study is based on nine OC dimensions which are Scope for Advancement (SFA), Grievance Handling (GH), Monetary Benefits (MB), Participative Management (PM), Objectivity & Rationality (OR), Recognition & Appreciation (RA), Safety & Security (SS), Training & Education (TE) and Welfare Facilities (WF) tested on Likert-type scale
Survey questionnaire was used among the workers and supervisors on two purposively selected organisations (Cases X & Y) located at Mumbai region. Case X operates in manufacturing chemical and fertilisers and Case Y in pharmaceutical products
Survey result shows that PM, SFA, GH, MB, TE and WF needs improvement. Overall, OC climate can be regarded as fair with difference in perception of workers and supervisors
This study will be useful both for the academician and practitioner of Industrial Relations
The OC scale is well-tested and validated in earlier studies by Sharma (1987). OC studies in India further needs to be looked at contemporary scenario with insights from multiple stakeholders.
