Abstract

Purpose is to analyse the preferences of senior HR experts of 5 star hotels in Delhi NCR about perceived popularity and effectiveness of employee engagement practices in Indian Hotel Industry.

Personal interviews were conducted with 20HR and IR Managers working with the hotel industry followed by ten senior HR experts for the purpose of analysing their perception about the effectiveness of different employee engagement practices. Analysis of preferences was done by applying Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP).

Using AHP, relative importance of each practice of employee engagement was estimated and the results were divided into three categories of extremely effective employee engagement practices (progress and development, interesting work and organisational support), moderately effective (supervisory support, leadership and pen communication) and least effective (rewards and recognition, image of good employer, work life balance and recreational facilitates and games).

The study will help researchers and practitioners to test and build congruence between the perceived employee engagement practices.
