Abstract

Talent in general means the natural ability to achieve success but, in an organisation, it is a more complex term as there are separate departments to manage talent. Talent management (TM) requires ability to retain and motivate employees so that they can increase the productivity of the organisation and achieve the desired objectives or goals. Therefore, it would be necessary to study whether employees are aware of the term TM and their attitude towards it.

Hence, a study was conducted in private banks of Haryana (ICICI bank, HDFC bank and Yes bank) on TM. Besides studying the awareness and attitude, the study also explored the factors influencing TM activities in these banks. The sample includes 213 employees chosen through convenience sampling. The data were collected through a short questionnaire.

After analysing the data, it was found that majority of the employees were aware of TM. The employees had a positive attitude towards TM practices. It was also found that teamwork, satisfaction with additional benefits and development plan for staff were the factors that influenced TM activities in these banks. Among the three, teamwork was the important factor that influenced TM activities.

This study explored factors influencing TM activities in private banks of Haryana.
