In today's working environment, people spend most of the time of their lives at their workplace, which results in workplace friendships. Research studies claim that workplace friendship has a positive effect on work performance, which leads to employee's satisfaction. This study provides important insight into how an organization can boost employee performance and job satisfaction by fostering workplace friendships. The study's outcome gives the result that employees’ perceptions of friendship opportunities in the workplace have both positive and negative effects on work performance and employee job satisfaction. Managerial implications of workplace friendship and social features within the workplace are also discussed. Future researchers can test this model and preposition empirically.
