Abstract

This paper makes an attempt to look at health deprivation of children in India and its major states. Recent round of National Family Health Survey (NFHS) presents a gloomy picture of child health in India. In this paper a simple index named `Achievement of Child Health Index' has been constructed to show the progress made by different states as far as child health is concerned. Findings reflect that some of the socio-economically poor states are lagging behind the developed states of the country in terms of child health.
