Education aims at making the lives of people peaceful. In spite of all the changes that are happening in the field of education, people lack peace of mind. They find themselves involved in conflicts, however educated a person may be. The spiritual and social depreciation of present day students has been increased due to the fact that the present education is artificial and highly mechanical. It does not necessarily follow the principles of true education as dictated by the educationists of yester years. The principles of idealism and naturalism have been rapidly overpowered by the modern technological advancements and its interference in natural development of child potentialities. If we want our children to aspire for a peaceful world, we will have to teach them the ways and means through which we can achieve peace - within and outside ourselves. Education for peace is the need of the hour. Modern scientific education has to be coupled with peace education in order to make education effective. The present paper tries to suggest ways and means through which we can create peaceful environment in the society.
