The present study attempts to study the effect of Emotional intelligence of Principals on job commitment of teachers. The study was conducted on secondary school teachers. The sample consisted of 20 schools with male and 20 schools with female principals from government and private schools of Hoshiarpur and Jalandhar district. Out of the selected schools, 20 teachers are taken from each school and investigation was carried out on 480 teachers to whom job commitment questionnaires were administered. The obtained data were analyzed with the help of 2x2 analysis of variance. Teachers in schools with male principals and female principals having high emotional intelligence exhibit more commitment to attain excellence than teachers in schools with male principals having low emotional intelligence. Teachers in schools with male principals and female principals having high emotional intelligence exhibit more commitment to basic values than teachers in schools with male principals having low emotional intelligence. Teachers in schools with female principals having low emotional intelligence show more commitment to basic values than teachers in schools with male principals having low emotional intelligence. Teachers in schools with male principals and female principals having high emotional intelligence exhibit more job commitment than teachers in schools with male and female principals having low emotional intelligence. Teachers in schools with female principals having low emotional intelligence exhibit more job commitment than teachers in schools with male principals having low emotional intelligence.
