Abstract

Science education in India is completely based on text book materials and the teaching is defined as completing the syllabus within stipulated time frame. Teachers do not introduce any innovations in the teaching methodology without testing whether students grasped the concepts or not. Laboratories are absent in the school curriculum. Hence students will find it difficult to understan. abstract ideas like Kepler's laws, conservation theorems etc. In this paper we describe how toys can be used as teaching aids to augment school level science education. Most of the toys can be made by students themselves using waste and discarded materials. Some of the toys are so complex that they are purchased from the market.
