Abstract

To bring all round development of child’s personality in 21st century has become a challenge before our society and educational institution. Growing trend and complexities of modernisation, explosion of knowledge and all-pervasive competitive atmosphere have negatively influenced the child education. It leads to many kind of health, academic and social problems. Stress and tension, atmosphere of failure and success, competition and reaching the expectations of parents have become a matter of concern both for children and school authority. Curriculum overload, home assignment, tuitions, craze for alampiad medals have pinned the buds of our child creativity and talents. Cramming and rote learning has created problems of tension and stress. Academic anxiety has done more harm than good to our millions of creative children. Authors in the paper have analysed the various dimensions of academic anxiety of 150 boys and girls of CBSE and Chhattisgarh Board and found that there is no significant difference in academic anxiety of CBSE and C.G board students. The study revealed the differences in academic anxiety of girls in both the Boards of education. High achiever girls in C.G. Board have more academic anxiety than their counterpart.
