Abstract

Most of the teachers give information to students through their teaching process but it is not identical with giving information. Some teachers think that teaching is passing to the class one's own experience. In fact, the teaching in schools is teacher centered, where teacher is the transmitter of knowledge and the students are passive receivers. Students are expected to memorize the knowledge provided by the teacher or presented in the textbook and to reproduce the same in the examinations. Memorization and recall of knowledge doesn't ensure that students have understood and will be able to use this knowledge in different life situations.

The nature of teaching is to establish a harmonious relationship among the teacher, student and subject. Teaching is an important task a teacher does in the classroom. An effective teacher not only knows the subject matter he intends his students to learn but also knows the misconceptions his students bring to the classroom, which will interfere with the learning of subject matter. Thus, whenever an opportunity arises a teacher should improve upon his education and professional qualifications.

Through this paper the author realizes the fact that effectiveness of teaching is very important for not only teacher and student but also for our knowledge society. In this context the author discusses some issues related to classroom teaching and suggests some measures for teaching more effective.
