Abstract

The present study examined the mental health among adolescents in relation to their socio-economic status. The study was conducted through descriptive method of research. The sample in the study included 400 government school students of 9th class who were selected randomly. The tools used for the present study were Mental Health Inventory by Jagdish & Srivastav (1983) and Socio-economic Status Scale by Meenakshi (2004). The descriptive statistics such as Mean, Median, Mode and S.D. and three-way ANOVA was used. It was revealed from the present study that there is no significant difference in mental health among adolescents of high and low socio-economic status adolescents. On the basis of results which depicts that there is significant interactional effect of location and gender on mental health, it is suggested that the guidance and counselling to the adolescents with mental health problems and to their parents should be a regular feature of school education.
