Abstract

Education today is undergoing tremendous changes in order to meet up with the growing demands of the globalised era. There is an upsurge of innovations and transformations taking place in the field of education, at present, so as to impart quality education to all. The need of the hour is to produce global citizens who can blend well with the modern smart world. Team work or group work is what is being promoted by employers for better outputs. And for this it becomes essential that our learners develop effective communication and collaboration skills along with academic skills. This calls for innovative methods and experiments to be brought into our classrooms. It should focus on the all-round development of the learner. One such strategy promoting this aspect is Cooperative Learning (CL). This paper focuses on the fifth essential element of cooperative learning, which is, group processing. It is seen how cooperative learning helps in improving the group processing element of class seven students while teaching science. Developing group processing element will help build in students the skills needed for working effectively in groups.
