Abstract

This paper is based on the results of a study carried out to ascertain the use of the libraries of colleges of education by the students of M.Ed. course in Punjab. A survey was conducted through a questionnaire to know the opinion of 144 students of 15 colleges about their libraries. Responses on various facets like, users’ frequency of visit to libraries, purpose of visit, awareness about library services, use of documents and services, awareness about use of computers, satisfaction with resources and services etc. are discussed. Survey revealed that most of the users were visiting libraries frequently for research work. Majority of the users were not familiar with referral, inter-library loan and reservation services. On the basis of this study various suggestions have been made to improve library services of these colleges.
