The problem of scarcity of scholarly books has become intractable in Nigeria. Students and faculty do not have access to books that are relevant to their programmes. In an attempt to find solutions to this problem a survey was conducted. The survey revealed the reasons for the scarcity. These reasons are discussed and solutions recommended.
