The main objective of the study was to evaluate the utilization of social media platforms among female students at the Indian Institute of Science and Education Research. The observations unravelled that a considerable percentage of female students preferred popular platforms of social media, such as, YouTube and Facebook in comparison to several other platforms prevalent in social media. The study also implies that doctorate and postdoctoral students demonstrate lower levels of engagement with social media platforms as compared to their undergraduate and graduate counterparts. A significant proportion of the female students in general employ social media platforms primarily for the purposes, such as, networking and the dissemination of knowledge.
