Empowerment is an active, multidimensional process which should enabled women to realize there full identity and power in all spheres of life. It would consist of greater access of knowledge and resources, greater autonomy in decision making, greater ability to plan their lives, have greater control over the circumstances that influence there lives and free them from shackles imposed on them by custom, beliefs and practice. In general, development with justice is expected to generate the forces that lead to the empowerment of various sectors/ sections in a country and to raise there status.
