Abstract

The present paper deals with the study of the role of Folk literature in the growth of Hindi literature in accordance wit the vision of Dr. Satyendra, a well known critic of Hindi literature and an advocate of Folk culture. In Dr. Satyendra's opinion it is the consciousness of the masses which ultimately finds expression in its literature. In his citations collected from innumerable sources widely scattered in the popular folk tales and folk songs he has convincingly proved even the creations of great epics out of those sagas present in the popular ethos since primitive times.
