We have tried to examine the Gender Disparities both under rural farm and non-farm employment in India using estimates from Census and National Sample Survey Quinquennial rounds. The paper has observed that the debilitation in gender disparities and feminisation of workforce is only illusory and not effective as an overwhelming majority of females are still employed under the farm sector than non-farm mainly in the form of marginal farm workers. It is now, imperative to take initiatives for the upliftment and empowerment of females through imparting technical education and enhancing credit facilities for them.
