At this juncture of our history when we are moving fast on the way to becoming an economic giant we are also plagued by massive social unrest. The spate of suicides by farmers dismally proves that agriculture continues to be the most important and neglected segment of our economy. Their conditions are uncannily almost the same as they were in the pre-independence days. We need to take lessons from what our founding fathers did or did not do for them.
