British Colonial Administration was very sensitive and vigilant about the material published in the press and news papers during 1930s. ‘Ran Nimantran’ was one of the pamphlets published from a small town Unnao of Uttar Pradesh. The author, Gaya Prasad, was a member of the Indian national Congress. Gaya Prasad was trying to spread the message of Gandhi's Civil-Disobedience in the people. British colonial administration not only proscribed the pamphlet but also awarded one year imprisonment to Gaya Prasad under Criminal Procedure Act 108. In this paper the author has traced the history of the pamphlet and its autor along with the proceedings of the colonial government of United Provinces regarding proscription of nationalist publications during 1930s.
