Abstract

An investigation was carried out to estimate the components of genetic variance, heritability and genetic advance for yield and related characters were estimated in pigeonpea cross combination MS Prabhat DT x ICPL 152 using NCD-I model. The dominance variance was high for days to maturity, branches per plant, clusters per plant, pods per plant, pod length, 100 seed weight and seed yield while the same estimate attained negative for days to 50 per cent flowering, plant height and seeds per pod indicating the preponderance of additive gene action in their inheritance. The heritability estimates and genetic advance was high for branches per plant. So selection based on these traits could be effective in improvement of seed yield.
