Abstract

Ten vascular wilt (F. oxysporum) resistant genotypes of chickpea were grown in a repli cated trial during rabi 1991–92, 92–93 and 93–94 at diverse locations accounting for 36 agroecological conditions. Observations were recorded on seed size of ten genotypes. (Environ mental indices were worked out to know the favourability of the environment for the develop ment of seed size. All the agroecological conditions have been classified into four categories i.e. (1) Most favourable (2) Favourable (3) Good and (4) poor. By using this information the entire chickpea growing areas of Madhya Pradesh have been classified for the purpose of good quality seed production. On the basis of over all observations from the data and average ecological conditions of the state, the safe areas have been identified for production of quality seeds of Commercial chickpea varieties in Madhya Pradesh.
