Abstract

Pigeonpea is a valuable source of protein, minerals and vitamins for human nutrition. The chemical constituents of seed of nineteen disease and insect resistant/tolerant lines have been highlighted in the present paper. The difference in various chemical parameters viz. protein, carbohydrate, calcium, phosphorus and iron content alongwith energy value of the seed indicated large genetic variability. The information will be useful in combining resistance with yield and quality attributes in new lines of pigeonpea to be developed for cultivation.
