Two hundred germplasm lines along with six commercial varieties of mungbean were evaluated over four environments (E1, E2, E3 and E4) for seed yield, its components and other morphological characters. Different genetic parameters were estimated. Genotypes showed significant differences for all the characters in each of the environment and also on the basis of pooled data. High GCV was revealed in each of the four environments and also for the pooled data for primary branches/plant, cluster/plant, pods/plant, seeds/plant and seed yield/plant. Hundred seed weight was found to be governed by additive gene action and selection for bolder seed size is possible. The substantial genetic variability observed in the mungbean germplasm over environments can be exploited through hybridization programme by combining the desirable genes from different genotypes.
