Field experiment was conducted during 1991 to 1996 to study the effect of nitrogen (four levels, 0, 15, 30 and 45 kg N/ha) and phosphorus (three levels, 0, 30 and 60 kg P2O5/ha) fertilization on soybean production under rainfed condition. Results indicated that application of 15 kg N/ha was economical (BCR 1:6.99) for soybean production. Available nitrogen content of soil after harvesting of crop also improved due to N app1cation. Application of P @ 30 kg P2O5/ha found was most economical with improving grain and fodder yield by 8.25 and 18.71 per cent, respectively.
