Abstract

Field experiments to estimate the loss of seed yield due to attack of pod borers in two varieties (K-I2 yellow and K-I2 black) of sunnhemp were conducted for three years. Pooled per cent loss of seed yield was estimated to be 15.05 for K-12 yellow and 21.31 for K-12 black variety. Pooled per cent incidence of pods due to pod borer complex for K-I2 yellow variety of treated plots was 1.69 and that of control was 21.63 while for K-12 black variety it was 9.91 for treated plots and 24.10 for control plots. Pooled average seed yield for K-12 yellow variety of treated plots was 5.51 and that of control was 4.68 Q/ha while for K-12 black variety for treated plots was 3.86 and -that of control plots was 3.04 Q/ha. Rainfall and temperature were the responsible factors for variation in pod borer incidence. All the treatments were found to be significant.
