Abstract

The effect of biparental mating was compared with conventional breeding procedures in the half sib progenies of blackgram using NCO-II. Biparental mating proved to be more effective in improving the mean performance for most of the characters studied. Biparental population maintained sufficiently high genetic variation for all the traits. Biparental intermating also exhibited improvement in the heritability estimates and genetic advance for most of the cbaracters.
