Abstract

Variability, heritability and genetic advance have been estimated using twenty eight genotypes of pigeonpea. Maximum variability was observed for number of pods per plant followed by straw yield per plant and plant height. The high heritability estimates were observed for the characters like number of secondaries per plant, grain yield per plant, days to maturity, straw yield per plant and number of primaries per plant. The expected genetic advance was high for straw yield per plant, plant height, number of pods per plant, grain yielet per plant and days to maturity.
