Flower drop in pigeonpea: effect of physiological traits under normal and late seeding

Growth parameters were observed during pre flowering and flowering periods alongwith extent of flower drop in ten genetically different pigeonpea genotypes under normal and late seeding. Growth traits and flower drop had significant differences for different factors. Through correlation, path analysis and per cent association, it was concluded that during early flowering, leaf area and specific leaf weight restricts flower drop under normal while under late seeding they were leaf and stem dry matter. During flowering period, leaf area and total dry matter are major traits to restrict flower drop under normal and under late seeding they were root and total dry matter, leaf area, and specific leaf weight.
