A pot experiment. was conducted to find out the time of the day when the flowers which are not used for pollination (during artificial hybridization programme) have to be removed to minimize the chances of forming selfed pods. The removal of flower from the base was more effective than the removal frorn the top in minimizing the selfed pegs per plant. To minimise selfed pods during artificial hybridization, the flower buds should be removed hom the base in the evening or before 7 a.m. during the kharif season. It is suggested that the flower removal process in any case should not be delayed beyond 8.00 a.m.
