Abstract

A field experiment conducted during 1995–96 with five levels of phosphorus sources [control, Purulia rock phosphate (PRP), single super phosphate (SSP), cattle urine treated Purulia rock phosphate (CUTPRP) and whey treated Purulia rock phosphate (WTPRP}] and three levels of cycocel spray [control, single spray (CCC1) at 30 DAS, double spray (CCC2) at 30 DAS and 45 DAS] @ 100 mg/l revealed that WTPRP significantly increased plant height, root length, nodules/plant, primary branches/plant, pods/plant, seeds/pod, 1000-seed weight and seed yield over all other treatments. SSP was preceded by WTPRP in all these growth and yield parameters. WTPRP recorded 75.5% increased seed yield over control. Highly positive and significant correlation existed between seed yield vs. primary branches/plant, nodules/plant, pods/plant, seeds/pod as inflllenced by phosphorus sources. Cycocel spray reduced plant height, increased number of branches/plant, nodules/plant and other yield attributing parameters. CCC2 recorded 20.2% increased seed yield over control. Among the treatment combinations, WTPRP + CCC2 exhibited maximum phosphorus uptake (9.82 kg/ha) by plants and highest B/C ratio (1.94).
