Response of various isolates of Bradyrhizobium inoculation on protein content and its yield atiributes of green gram [Vigna radiata (L.) Wilczek]

A field experiment was conducted during kharif season of 1998 and 1999 to study the effect of different Bradyrhizobium strains inoculation on protein and yield attributes of green gram under mid-hill conditions of Himachal Pradesh, The significantly maximum test weight (g), biological yield (q/ha), grain yield (q/ha) and harvest index (%) was recorded by inoculation with local isolate of Bradyrhizobium, followed by R₁, R₃ and lowest value of these characters were observed in control. The protein content in seed was influenced by inoculation treatment and significantly highest protein content was noticed after R₁ inoculation as compared to other strains and control where lowest protein content was recorded. None of the strain could influence the protein content in straw.
