The experiment was conducted to study the growth characteristics and yield of five varieties of fodder cowpea under three seeding rates. The number of branches and leaves/plant were significantly higher in UPC-953. The variety UPC-953 yielded significantly higher over the other varieties in respect of green fodder and dry matter yield. The lower seeding rate gave higher number of branches and leaves/plant, however, maximum green and dry fodder yield was obtained at a seeding rate of 40 kg/ha.
