Abstract

Combining ability studies were carried out through a 5 x 5 full diallel cross for six important quantitative traits. Variance due to general combining abilityand specific combining ability were significant for alI the characters. CO 2 was the best general combiner. A cross DL 3196 x CO 11 showed high significant SCA effects for yield, pod yield and nwnber of seeds per plant. This cross may be exploited by simple breeding procedures like pedigree selection.
