Efficacy of biocontrol micro organisms on root rot of black gram caused by Macrophomina phaseolina (Tassi) gold

Field experiments were conducted to test the efficacy of fungal and bacterial antagonistic formulations in controlling the root rot disease caused by Macrophomina phaseolinafor three consecutive years in blackgram. Among the various treatments tested, seed treatment + soil application of Trichoderma viride and Pseudomonas fluorescens (talc based) either applied individually or combined (4.16, 4.59 and 2.59 per cent incidence) and seed treatment + soil application of T. viride (gypsum based) recorded significantly less incidence of root rot (4.71 per cent incidence) in blackgram than control (14.04 per cent incidence).
