Abstract

Twenty one diverse genotypes including four checks were evaluated for 13 morphological and biochemical characters to study the association and effects of these traits on seed yield per plant. On the basis of analysis, the character days to maturity, plant height, primary branches per plant, secondary branches per plant, cluster per plant, pods per cluster, pods per plant, proline content and harvest index exhibited significant and positive correlation with seed yield per plant at both phenotypic and genotypic levels. These characters showed positive direct effects on yield per plant except pods per plant and secondary branches per plant which showed negative direct effects.
