Genetic divergence in a diallel mating system of cowpea

The D² analysis was employed to cluster the eight parents and twenty eight hybrids obtained by 8 x 8 DiaUel mating system in cowpea. The clustering was conducted for the two locations and at both the locations six clusters were constituted but the constitution differed with locations. D² clustering was conducted to assess the relation between the genetic divergence and heterotic expression. The hybrids produced by selection of parents based on ~2 clustering showed high heterotic effects.
